Mr. Doug Dankworth

Mr. Doug Dankworth has taught the MSIIs since 2007. He has more than 32 years combined enlisted and officer service in the Active Army, National Guard and Army Reserve. He enlisted into the Ohio National Guard in 1980 as a military journalist and deployed on training tours to Germany. He later entered the SMP program at "The Ohio State University" and was commissioned as a Distinguished Military Graduate into the Regular Army in the branch of Armor. While on active duty for 10 years, he served at Fort Polk with the 5th Infantry division as a Tank Platoon Leader, Battalion Support Platoon Leader, Tank Company XO and Tank Battalion S-1 adjutant. At Fort Knox, he was an OSUT Tank Company Commander, U.S. Army Armor School Branch Chief, Assistant S-3 for the 194th Armor Brigade (Sep) and as a public affairs officer (project manager) with the United States Army Recruiting Command. While on active duty, he trained on the M60A1, M60A3, M1 and M1A1 main battle tanks and saw two rotations to the National Training Center. With the Army Reserve, he served for five years as the Public Affairs Officer for the 300th Military Police Command which included public affairs duty at Fort Dix with the Kosovo refugees. He served as XO for the 318th Press Camp Headquarters out of Chicago and deployed to Bosnia as the Deputy Director of the Coalition Press Information Center at Eagle Base. While with the 8th Army (CONUS) he served in the provost marshal department and as a PAO with training tours to Korea. In 2005, he deployed to Kuwait as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee for Third Army where he was the public affairs plans officer at Camp Arifjan. His last assignment had him billeted as a Reserve Instructor for the DoD's Defense Information School at Ft. Meade, MD. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Print Journalism from Ohio State and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Louisville. He also has done graduate work in public affairs at the University of South Carolina. His military education includes: Basic Training and AIT, the Armor Officer Basic Course (commandant's list), the Armor Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College, NBC course, S-1 course, the Public Affairs Officers Course, Army Advanced Public Affairs Course, and Military History Instructor Course. He resides in Livonia, MI, with his wife, the former Kiyoko Hiyodo.
