A Week in the Life

Cadet Robert Muñoz

CDT Muñoz is an MS III and junior at the Ford School of Public Policy, specializing in Military Policy. In his home state, he was an EMT-qualified firefighter. At UM he has volunteered with Students Helping Honduras and founded an investment club. After UM, he plans to attend law school.

Let’s follow his typical week in ROTC.

06:00

Physical Training

The day starts bright and early with an intense full-body HIIT workout. After some warm-up exercises, he does 45-second intervals of burpees, squats, and bicycles with the entire Battalion.

08:00

Milsci Class

CDT Muñoz meets with his fellow MS III Cadets for his weekly Military Science class, where they review how to read a military map, plot grid coordinates on it, and how to plan a route between points.

15:00

Leadership Lab

After trekking out to the Nichols Arboretum, CDT Muñoz applies his skills learned in the classroom and successfully plans and executes a mission as Platoon Leader in charge of about 40 other Cadets.

17:00

Color Guard

As head of the Color Guard team, CDT Muñoz leads a flag lowering ceremony at the end of the day in observance of Veteran’s Day.

18:00

CTO Time

After researching the topic in-depth, CDT Muñoz teaches a class on squad and team composition to his peers at CTO Time. He uses this not only as a chance to master the material, but also practice teaching and leadership.

19:00

Bowling

After a week’s worth of hard work, CDT Muñoz joins the rest of the Battalion at the bowling alley and enjoys some fun and relaxation with his friends and fellow Cadets.
