At the Wolverine Battalion, Cadets are first and foremost students.
Cadet life at Michigan is close to that of a typical college student. Our program adds leadership development, military skills, and physical fitness to a traditional college education.
Milsci Class
Class meets once a week for 1-2 hours to discuss tactics and leadership.
Physical Training
Hour-long group workout three times a week.
Leadership Lab
Practice tactics and leadership outside once a week.
The Path to Commissioning
Army ROTC is a 4-year program that consists of classroom instruction, practical exercises and labs, and physical training. Accelerated 2- and 3-year programs exist for graduate students and students joining ROTC in the middle of their undergraduate studies.
MILSCI 101 & 102
Cadets are introduced to basic Soldier skills and tactics at the fireteam level.
MILSCI 201 & 202
Cadets continue to refine basic Soldier skills and are introduced to squad size tactics and leadership procedures.
MILSCI 301 & 302
Cadets are introduced to Army functions, platoon-level tactics, and further refine Soldier skills in preparation for Advance Camp.
Advanced Camp
A five-week culminating summer training event where Cadets are evaluated in their skills and leadership at Fort Knox, KY.
MILSCI 401 & 402
Cadets refine their leadership skills and knowledge to commission as Officers of the United States Army.
Commissioning
Upon graduation, Cadets turn into Second Lieutenants of the United States Army and receive their commission.
