At the University of Michigan, Army ROTC cadets are taught that service goes beyond the uniform—it means being present, engaged, and giving back to the community we’re a part of. One way we live that out is through our partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Ann Arbor. Several times a year, cadets volunteer their time to prepare and serve meals for families staying at the house while their loved ones receive critical medical care.
This experience reminds cadets that leadership is rooted in compassion and that the impact of their service extends far beyond the battlefield. It’s a moment to step outside the classroom and the training field and connect directly with people who are facing real challenges. For many cadets, it becomes one of the most meaningful parts of their ROTC journey.
