Mr. Elvin Trusty, III was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended and graduated from Dunbar Sr. High School prior to enrolling and completing Basic Combat and Advanced Individual Training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Mr. Trusty’s previous assignments include A Battery, 3rd BN, 16th FA in Fort Hood, TX, C Battery, 2nd BN, 17th FA at Camp Hovey Korea, and 1st BN, 320 th FA at Fort Campbell, KY, 4th BN, 27th FA Baumholder Germany, Observer/Controller at the National Training Center Fort Irwin, First Sergeant of G Company 2nd BN 321 FA, and C Battery 3rd BN, 321 st FA in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC . Upon completion of these assignments Mr. Trusty returned to the National Training Center at Fort Irwin as the Battalion Operations Sergeant on the Wolf Team. His combat tours include 2 regular tours and 1 extended tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and a tour in support Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He is currently the Senior Military Instructor at the University of Michigan and has been at the University since June 2016.
Mr. Trusty’s military and civilian education include Basic Combat Training, Cannoneer Advanced Individual Training, Combat Life Savers Course, Warrior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course Senior Leaders Course, Long Range Reconnaissance Course, Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Observer/Controller Academy and Company Commander/First Sergeant Pre-Command Course. He is currently attending Excelsior College for his Associate’s degree in Applied Science – ADMIN/MGMT Studies.
His awards include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Commendation Medal (4th OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (2nd Bronze Star), Afghanistan Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 6), Basic Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Combat Action Badge.
Mr. Trusty is married to the former Sharese Crenshaw, of Baltimore, Maryland. They have a have three children together.
