Cadet Spotlights
Cadet Sam Roberts
Cadet Roberts is a senior studying at Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. He is the current Battalion Commander, and previously served as the Cadet Command Sergeant Major for the Wolverine Battalion. Over the summer, he successfully completed Cadet Summer Training and have met RECONDO standards, and have previously completed the Air Assault School at the United States Military Academy in New York. Outside of ROTC, he is active within his social fraternity and is an Editor for the Michigan Intelligence and Security Review, a policy publication based in the Ford School. Upon graduation, he plans on commissioning as an Active Duty Field Artillery Officer.
Cadet Claire Reimer
Cadet Reimer is a junior studying Biology and History at the College of Literature, Science, and Arts. Within ROTC, she is the current Ranger Challenge Team Captain. She has passed the Air Assault School at Fort Campbell and has trained with Special Forces at Robin Sage. Outside of the program, she works as a biomedical research assistant and have ran 1 Ironman and 7 marathons. She is also active in the campus Catholic Church, and has secured a medical internship in Philly for the upcoming summer. She intends to go to the medical school to become a field surgeon (62B) for the army.

CHALLENGING AND REWARDING
Joining Army ROTC has been one of the best decisions that I have made during my time at the University of Michigan. This program has challenged me to push beyond my limits and grow into the best version of myself, both physically and mentally. I have found lifelong friends and a strong community. Most importantly, the program has taught me the value of contributing to something that is greater than myself.

Leadership and Friendship
My time with Army ROTC has been the defining aspect of my college experience. It has given me an outlet to push myself, improve my leadership skills, and make close friends. Pushing through those early morning wake ups and late night labs builds a unique community, and I look forward to my remaining two years with this program.

Unforgettable
This battalion has given me unforgettable experiences, such as the Bataan Death March and Robin Sage, that challenged me both physically and mentally and pushed me to grow. Through experiences in and outside the program, I have become more resilient and gained a deeper understanding of the Army. The leadership roles I have held taught me how to lead my peers with accountability and purpose.

Learn Invaluable Life Skills
I’m grateful to be a part of such a wonderful and supportive community within our ROTC program. It has taught me invaluable life skills, most importantly taking care of the people around you. Even though I’m a senior, I’m blessed to learn something new everyday in this program.
