Major Maskovyak was appointed as the Professor of Military Science at the University of Michigan on 1 August 2025. Prior to this position he served as the Operations Officer for U.S. NATO Brigade’s Allied Forces North in SHAPE, Belgium.
Major Maskovyak commissioned as a Transportation Officer through the University of Dayton’s Army ROTC program in 2010. He attended Transportation Basic Officer Leader’s Course (BOLC) and was a Distinguished Military Graduate. His first assignment was as a Maintenance Platoon Leader in the 45th Sustainment Brigade at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He forward deployed to RC-Central in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom serving as a Mobility Officer. Following deployment MAJ Maskovyak served as the Executive Officer for the 40th Quartermaster Company.
MAJ Maskovyak attended the Logistics Captain’s Career Course (L-CCC) at Fort Lee, Virginia in 2014 where he transitioned from a Transportation Officer to a Logistics Officer and graduated as Distinguished Military Graduate. After completion of L-CCC MAJ Maskovyak PCSd to Fort Carson, Colorado where he served as the S3 Operations Officer for the 64th Brigade Support Battalion forward deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield. Following deployment MAJ Maskovyak assumed command of G Forward Support Company and forward deployed his company to Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. MAJ Maskovyak then PCSd to Camp Zama, Japan where he served as the Support Operations Officer for 35th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion and then as the Logistics Bilateral Coordination officer with the Japanese Self Defense Forces (JSDF) for I Corps (FWD).
MAJ Maskovyak attended resident Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas from 2020-2021. Following graduation MAJ Maskovyak PCSd to Eygelshoven, the Netherlands where he served as both the Support Operations Officer and Executive Officer of Army Field Support Battalion – BENELUX managing Army prepositioned stocks in the Netherlands and Belgium, supporting regional deterrence in Eastern Europe, and providing national support to Ukraine. MAJ Maskovyak then assumed duties as the Operations Officer for U.S. NATO Brigade’s Allied Forces North managing U.S. personnel and equipment readiness for 22 U.S. NATO elements across 13 countries in norther, central, and eastern Europe.
MAJ Maskovyak is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. He currently resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He earned Bachelors of Science in Economics and Business Management at the University of Dayton, Ohio in 2010. He also received a Master’s in Supply Chain Management from the University of Kansas in 2021 and a Master’s Degree in Operations from the U.S. Army’s Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas in 2021.
