Captain Mike Hanson hails from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Spring Arbor University. He commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer in May 2016 and, upon completing the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leader Course (FABOLC), he was stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska assigned to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division. CPT Hanson promoted to Captain on September 1, 2020, graduated the Field Artillery Captains Career Course and reported to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team (Rakkasans), 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) in April of 2021. Additional schools include; Airborne, Air Assault, Joint Fires & Effects course and Common Faculty Development – Instructor Course.

- Dog Company, 3-509 PIR, 4-25 IBCT (ABN): Served as a Company Fire Support Officer from April 2017 to September 2017.
- Bravo Battery, 2-377 PFAR, 4-25 IBCT (ABN): Served as a Platoon Leader from September 2017 to December 2018. Deployed to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION Resolute Support.
- Brigade Operations Assistant (OPSA), HHC, 4-25 IBCT (ABN): Held position from December 2018 until May 2020.
- Headquarters and Headquarters Battery; 3-320th FA, 3BCT, 101ST ABN DIV (AASLT): Assigned as a Battalion Fire Support Officer in 3-187 IN (IRON Rakkasans) from April 2021 to April 2022.
- Bravo Battery Commander; 3-320th FA, 3BCT, 101ST ABN DIV (AASLT): Commanded a M119A3 Battery from April 2022 to April 2023.
- Headquarters & Headquarters Battery Commander; 3-320th FA, 3BCT, 101ST ABN DIV (AASLT): Commanded for 18 months from June 2023 to December 2024, including a 9-month deployment to EUCOM in support of OPERATION European Assure, Deter, and Reinforce.
Personal Life CPT Hanson is married to his better-half, Katie Hanson, who is a Registered Nurse. Together they have three sons: Ty (8), Jayce (5), and Tate (2).
